Top 5 Foreign Restaurants in Itaewon, Seoul

Itaewon is the heart and center of foreign activity in Seoul, South Korea.  It’s a melting pot of cultures, and it’s one of the most happening districts of the city.

Given that Itaewon is the most well-known “foreigner district” of Seoul, you can find some of the best international restaurants, souvenir shops, and incredible nightlife.

I lived and taught English in Korea for 18 months, and on every single weekend, I went to Itaewon to party, eat delicious food and hang out with my friends.

In this post, I am going to share with you my top 5 favorite foreign restaurants in the Itaewon District.  Everything you read is coming off my own personal experiences.

1. Belgrade Bar & Grill:

My person favorite restaurant in Itaewon is Belgrade Bar and Grill, and it serves authentic Serbian food.  Not only is the environment cozy and intimate, but the quality of food is mouth-watering delicious.  The staff and chef are a friendly bunch of Serbian expats in Seoul, and they will welcome you with open arms. I’ve been to Serbia twice, and I can confidently say that this food tastes exactly like it does in Belgrade itself.  A must visit on any trip to Itaewon.

Top Things to Try:
– Cepavi – Serbian style beef sausages
– Meat Platter – bacon wrapped sausages, pork slices, and more
– Gourmet Pljeskavica – grilled beef in a patty with vegetables, ham, cheese and seasoning

– 서울시 용산구 이태원동 118-4
Seoul, South Korea 140-863

On the pedestrian street behind hamilton hotel, turn left and walk until you see Praha.  Then turn right and it’s up the hill on the right side.

2. Rye Post

Rye post has the best Sandwiches in Seoul — hands down! I’ve probably been here 30 times, and it keeps getting better and better each time.  The staff is so friendly and every time you walk in the door, they all greet you with a big smile and say “Hello, Welcome to Rye Post!”

Top Things to Try:
– Philly Cheesesteak
– Bacon and Avocado
– Vietnamese Bahn Mi

Rye Post is located right on the main strip of Itaewon.  By subway, walk out of Itaewon station exit 4 and walk straight for about 2 minutes. It’s on the left hand side.

3. Taste of Thailand:

My favorite Thai food in Seoul cannot be missed!  It’s some of the tastiest Thai food that I’ve had outside of Thailand.  It’s a bit expensive, but it’s worth every penny.  Make sure to go early beacuse the line can be out the door.

Top Things to Try:
– Green Curry
– Pad Thai

The restaurant is located in Kyungnidan at 671 Itaewon 2-dong, Yongsan-gu. Seoul. 140-861.

To get there take a train to Noksapyeong station (line 6) and get out at exit 2.  Then,  walk straight down until you reach the under pass then go underneath. The place is on the second floor above Noxa just opposite the exit of the underpass

4. Trevia Pizza:

I’ve been to Trevia Pizza about 10 times, and each time I go back, it gets better and better.  I’m talking about quality like in Italy – cooked in a sizzling oven with fresh ingredients and thin crust.  You just can’t go wrong at Trevia.

Top Things to Try:
– The classic Margherita Pizza

The Pizza joint is located at 557 Itaewon-Dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

By Subway, head to Noksapyeong station (line 6) and go out of exit 2. Then, walk down the road till you get to the underpass and cross the road. Take the right hand exit and walk straight ahead.

5. Vatos Urban Tacos:

Vatos is a fusion between Korean and Mexican food, and it’s been a fan-favorite for years in Itaewon.  Just think of it like Chipotle on steroids, and throw some kimchi and other Korean spices/flavor into the dishes.  The vibe inside is lively and great.  Just be sure to get there early on weekend nights, because it gets extremely crowded.

Top Things to Try:
– Kimchi Fries
– Baja Fish Tacos
– Spicy Chicken Burrito

Vatos is located on the main strip of Itaewon, across the street from McDonald’s.  By Subay, get out at exit 1 and walk straight for 5 minutes, and you’ll see it on your right-hand side.

So there you have it, the top 5 foreign restaurants in Itaewon.  Hope you enjoy all the food!
