Munich Nightlife Guide

I went to Munich twice, because I just couldn’t get enough the first time.

Well, the first time I went was for Springfest– a huge beer drinking festival.   The second time, I was able to enjoy the club and bar scene, and it was a freaking blast.

The scene in Munich is just starting to pop off, and is getting more popular every year.  For example, just within the last 3 years, many new clubs and bars have sprung up all around the city.  Hipsters from all over Germany are slowly making their way to Munich to be a part of the trendy scene.

My favorite part about the drinking culture in Munich is the beer gardens!  Munich is home to dozens of amazing beer gardens, that quite possibly has the best drinking atmosphere in the world.  Especially if the weather is nice, head to one of the giant outdoor beer gardens and day drink with the locals.

There are lots of fun discos and nightclubs in Munich.  The electronic dance music scene is huge, so most clubs will have a DJ spinning some popular techno tunes.

Be aware that the bouncers aren’t friendly to foreigners.  Just make sure to not act like an idiot and dress yourself nicely so you will be let it.  Don’t take it personally, it’s just how German culture goes.

Without further adieu, Here is my list of the best places to party in Munich!

Disclaimer: The following list of clubs and bars was put together mostly from my own personal experiences, but also with the addition of my friends recommendations.  Things may have changed over the years, so I am trying my best to keep this list updated.  If I missed something, please comment so I can add it to the list!  Enjoy :D

With a capacity of 1500+ people combined with its perfect location in the heart of the city, Club Pacha is widely considered as the best club in town.

The club has a big central dance floor, six different bars, a world-renowned sound system, several VIP areas, and an outside terrace with comfortable couches.  Pacha attracts a fine mix of international and local partiers, who are stylish and hip.  The music scene is house, and you will find a different DJ spinnin’ there on each night.  Like I mentioned before, the quality of the sound system will blow your mind- so if you like to dance and meet awesome people, go to Club Pacha!

*Pacha is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10PM until late in the morning.

Expensive, so make sure to pregame hard before you go to the club 😉

Harry Klein is Munich’s premier club for techno music.  On any given night, expect to see a different DJ playing incredible sets of house music.  While it is not the biggest club in town, it is always packed and fun.  The interior has an incredible sound system, and a unique array of neon lights and a psychedelic screen that will put you in a daze to the music.   This club is like a time machine, because you will be having so much fun and you won’t realize how much time you have spend there (until you see that the sun has risen!) Harry Klein will give you a pure and authentic taste of German nightlife.

Expensive- same as other clubs in Munich

Sonnenstraße 8
